Current practice

Me Sophie-Anne Décarie currently focuses her practice on real estate litigation , construction law and hidden defects , ensuring her clients’ rights are rigorously defended. Drawing on an experience-based approach and conflict resolution , she advocates for effective settlements whenever possible and tailored to the situation.

At the same time, Ms. Décarie also has significant experience in real estate litigation and construction law, where she uses her strategic advocacy skills to effectively represent her clients before various legal bodies. Within Décarie Stephenson Avocats, a firm that emerged from the Décarie Avocats office she founded in 2006, she serves as an associate lawyer.

Biographical note

A graduate of Laval University in law (1998) and a member of the Quebec Bar since 1999, Ms. Décarie started his practice in Quebec at McCathy Tétrault. She then spent 8 years as an employee in a regional firm where she focused on civil and commercial litigation mandates and where she held a position as a litigator, mainly in superior and appeal courts.

In 2006, Ms. Décarie founded the firm Décarie Avocats Inc., which became Décarie Stephenson Avocats Inc. Ms. Décarie has built a solid reputation through her numerous mandates in civil and commercial litigation, including long-term cases and extraordinary remedies. She has perfected her skills in pleading at the University of Sherbrooke (2009), in civil and commercial mediation (2017), and in civil and commercial arbitration (2024), which allows her to offer several settlement options to her clients, according to their needs and interests. Ms. Décarie has also, with the same perspective of improvement, undertaken to obtain her general contractor’s license in 2025.

Over the years, Ms. Décarie has distinguished herself through her thoroughness, her negotiating skills, and her commitment to personalized service. She has an unparalleled thirst for learning and innovation to ensure she remains focused on continuous improvement. She is dedicated to serving people and is a great listener. This is how she has earned the trust of a diverse clientele, including both individuals and businesses from across the Outaouais region.

Committing to your community

Active in various local organizations, Ms. Décarie was the founder of the BNI Partenaires en Affaire section in Aylmer, where she is from, a director at the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Chamber’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee. She is also involved in several charitable initiatives, notably as honorary president of the Leucan Outaouais Chefs’ Challenge, raising significant funds for the cause. She also supports the competition committee of the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

She acts as a mentor and trainer, sharing her experience with entrepreneurs, economic development organizations and future legal professionals. Her commitment aims to promote the growth of the business community and access to justice.
