Community involvement

Ms. Sophie-Anne Décarie

I sincerely believe it is my duty to give back to my community, the community that, day after day, places its trust in me. In addition to direct donations to various charities, such as Leucan, UQO, Maison Papillon, the Carmen Centre, the Canadian Cancer Society, United Way, La Maison des Collines, and the Outaouais Alzheimer’s Society, over the past 25 years, I have supported, through my active involvement, various organizations and causes close to my heart, including the following:

Since being sworn in as a lawyer,

I have been fully engaged in my community!

Chamber of Commerce

Ms. Sophie-Anne Décarie was heavily involved with the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce from 2010 to 2023. The firm has also been a finalist three times for the Excelors Awards, including the Innovation – Exceptional Project Award, recognizing our exceptional involvement in the Leucan Outaouais Chefs’ Challenge project.

From 2016 to 2019, Ms. Décarie, drawing on her years of business experience, was appointed as a Mentor in the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce’s Mentoring Program.

In 2019, Ms. Décarie was appointed to the Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious business promotion group, Les Entremetteurs.

In 2020, Ms. Décarie was elected as a director to sit on the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. The firm has been a partner since its inception in the “Power of Success” event, which celebrates women in excellence. Ms. Décarie then became chair of the Women Entrepreneurship Committee, which spearheaded the event.

Leucan

In 2017, the firm entered into a three-year collaboration agreement with Leucan Outaouais to act as official presenters of the Leucan Outaouais Chefs’ Challenge, a prestigious and major event that raised $380,000 for the charity and earned it a finalist for the Gatineau Chamber of Commerce’s Excelor Award for “Innovation – Exceptional Project.”

Ms. Déborah Stephenson

Giving back to my community is essential to me. To maintain a close connection to my roots in access to justice, I volunteer with a legal clinic whenever I have the opportunity. I offer one-off, free legal consultations to my fellow citizens. I will accompany you with the same compassion.

My vision: all for one and one for all !

AEND and the UOttawa Faculty of Civil Law

I believe it is essential to demonstrate camaraderie within the legal community and to share tips and advice. Since 2022, I have been involved with the University of Ottawa Black Law Students’ Association (AEND) and the University of Ottawa Centre for Professional Development, Faculty of Civil Law, as a mentor for the next generation of lawyers. I am committed to making a difference for students in their career guidance and guiding them in the various aspects of practicing law.

Legal Pro Bono Projects for Non-Profit Organizations

It has always been important to me to be involved in social and environmental justice causes in our community. That’s why, during my university studies, I created legal pro bono projects for non-profit organizations in the Ottawa region as a Program Coordinator with Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC). During my time at PBSC, my colleague and I created the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award to recognize the exceptional contribution of law student volunteers. The initiative was formalized in 2020 at the national level of the organization, solidifying the impact and legacy of my colleague and I in community engagement at the university level.
